Therapy for Low Self-Esteem

Compassion focused support in North Wales for the whole UK

Is self-doubt stopping you from reaching your full potential and living a happy, fulfilled life?

Maybe you're sick and tired of never feeling good enough and realise that you just don't want to keep living this way. Perhaps your lack of self-confidence is affecting your relationships, work or education.

You may be struggling to do the things you really want or need to do or are just simply struggling to cope at all. Perhaps you're feeling worthless, insecure or ashamed.

You might feel 'stuck' and feel like you don't know how to get out or what you can change. This can feel totally disheartening and discouraging.

Maybe you compare yourself to others and wonder why, why can't you have that too? Why do they make it look so easy?

Whatever it is you're experiencing, you notice the impact of this on every area of your life:

Personal

Low self-esteem and self-doubt can make all kinds of relationships feel hard. Friendships often suffer because anxiety can make social situations feel daunting or even impossible. It can make you overly concerned with 'fitting in' or looking 'silly' which can get in the way of trying new things or exploring new hobbies and interests.

Family relationships can be difficult to manage because you want to keep everyone else happy which leads to you putting everyone else's needs before your own, avoiding conflict and not putting appropriate boundaries in place.

Self-doubt can also take a toll on intimate relationships creating worries about your partner leaving you and making it hard to communicate, creating feelings of disconnection and isolation.

Therapy can help

Although it might feel impossible right now, you can start to feel more confident in yourself and you can learn to cope with the challenges of life.

Therapy can help you to:

  • Reframe unhelpful thoughts and beliefs so you can develop a more helpful mindset, that actually encourages and motivates you instead of judging and criticising.

  • Learn strategies to manage stress and anxiety so you feel better able to cope.

  • Develop trust in yourself, so that you feel more confident in putting yourself forward and in setting boundaries.

  • Resolve past issues so that you can move forward with purpose and clarity, without being tied to the past.

  • Develop self-compassion so that you can feel more comfortable and content in yourself.

I'll support you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and experiences. My approach to therapy comes from a place of compassion, curiosity and creativity; believing that you are not broken but that the world and your experiences have made you feel that way. I want to help you heal from that.

What is therapy like?

If you're here, you've probably recognised a need for change; you don't want to carry on in life feeling like you're 'less than' or like you're 'not enough'. You know you've got more to offer and want to overcome the fear and blocks holding you back.

I want to support you to do just that, by guiding you through compassionate self-exploration so you can know and understand yourself better whilst learning to be kinder and gentler to yourself.

I will help you to feel empowered to make transformative change by turning your new insights into action, through creative interventions, mindset shifts and by learning helpful tools and strategies that you can continue using for the rest of your life.

How do I work?

I'm an integrative person-centred therapist which is just fancy jargon that means my focus is YOU and where you're coming from. There's no one-size fits all approach here. I am passionate about tailoring support to your individual needs and as such, I draw from LOTS of different theories, perspectives and offer LOTS of different tools and strategies to support you.

A common thread that runs throughout all my work is compassion; we will often be looking through this 'lens' so that you can learn to quiet your inner critic and develop a more supportive and encouraging inner voice, one that helps you feel more confident and capable but also more content and comfortable in yourself.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques and theories, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy. I combine these more 'traditional' approaches with more creative practices like expressive arts, Internal Family Systems (IFS), visualisation and mindfulness.

I offer a comprehensive range of tools and strategies to support your journey to healing, from stress and anxiety management, to emotional processing and self-acceptance, to name a few.  However, the most powerful 'tool'' I offer, is a safe and totally non-judgmental space where you actually feel heard and understood.

Therapy sessions

I offer counselling sessions over video and by telephone and work with clients from anywhere in the UK. As sessions are conducted remotely, it is important that you have a strong internet connection and/or strong telephone signal.

Sessions lasts 50 minutes and are typically scheduled on a weekly basis, although fortnightly sessions can be arranged based on client needs which can be discussed.

The duration of therapy will depend on your individual needs and goals but unravelling unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, resolving the past and developing self-compassion are processes that take time. It's for this reason, that I tend to work with clients over a longer term (several months+) so that you have the time and space that you really need in order to make sustainable and meaningful change in your life.

Therapy is a commitment that requires effort and dedication. It is not a quick fix, but a journey towards sustainable growth and transformation. I am here to support you in navigating the ups and downs of the therapeutic process so you can emerge stronger and more resilient.
