Ready to stop letting anxiety & self-doubt hold you back?
I've got good news.
Therapy for Self-Doubters & Over-Thinkers
Amy Thomas-Owen, Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist
I'm Amy and I help academics, creatives and high-achievers, just like you; who have it within them to be confident, calm and connected by giving them the right support to get there.
I help my clients find self-acceptance, self-belief and healing, by giving them the tools and support they need to trust themselves, be kind to themselves and understand themselves more fully.
Most of the solutions you see for self-doubt and over-thinking are generic quick-fix tools that might give temporary relief to uncomfortable thoughts and feelings but that don't offer long-term, sustainable change. I know that you and your experiences are unique, so I tailor support specifically to your individual needs ensuring that your whole person and all of your different parts are cared for and supported.
First, we compassionately explore what is holding you back from reaching your potential like unhelpful thoughts, limiting beliefs and previous negative experiences so that you can heal these past wounds and trauma. Then, we work on empowering you to make transformative change, by turning your new insights into action through creative interventions and by developing more helpful coping strategies, that you can continue using long after therapy sessions have ended.
Through our work together, you'll experience deep healing and growth so you can have the confidence to embrace and accept your wonderfully unique self, just as you are.
You don't have to be 'more' or 'less' or be something you think you're supposed to be. YOU, are enough.
I am dedicated to helping people believe in themselves
My varied therapy training combined with my background in academia and Fine Art means I have the expertise you need and deserve to overcome the blocks holding you back from being your full, vibrant self and living a life that is meaningful and happy.
But at the end of the day, you want to know you're working with someone who 'gets' what it means to lack confidence and doubt yourself, right?
I get it because I've lived it myself. A lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem prevented me from pursuing my creative passions and almost, just almost, stopped me from embarking on my career as a therapist. I know that sometimes you feel 'stuck' where you are and there may be times you even want to quit altogether. So when we work together, you won't just get a trained therapist. You'll get someone who truly understands what you're going through.

My Values
COMPASSION
My practice is centred around encouraging and cultivating compassion. It is a space where you can feel heard without judgement and where you can learn to treat yourself more gently and with more kindness.
I will support you to get curious about about yourself and what you're feeling because, in my experience, curiosity is the best anti-dote to criticism.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability runs through ever fibre of my practice. I don't want to give you quick fixes and 'hacks'. Instead, I want to help you develop a way of being that you can continue carrying forward even after therapy has ended.
It's also why I'm passionate about environmental conservation, cyclical and slow living and also why I've chosen a Vegetarian lifestyle.
HEALING
I don't believe that anyone is 'broken' or that they're a problem that needs to be 'fixed'. I do believe though, that many of us feel broken by a system that doesn't support our individual uniqueness and needs.
I will help you heal from the unhelpful messages that were given to you, without your knowledge or consent and help you heal from the hurt that being a human being, living in this world can bring.
Do you dream about a time when you don't constantly criticise yourself, feel discouraged or overwhelmed but that feels impossible right now?
Don't you wish you had to tools and support to achieve that?
You're in the right place.
